FileMaker Pro 5.5: Relational Databases (Windows)
Overview:

In this course, you will learn powerful techniques for developing complex database systems containing multiple linked database files. You will learn about the various relationship types, link databases together, use field formatting options, and will create buttons and scripts to create a system that is ultimately easy and efficient for an end user to work with.

Prerequisites:

To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge:

  • FileMaker Pro 5.5 Basic Skills:
Performance-Based Objectives:

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Use advanced field definitions including calculation fields.
  • Apply auto-entry, value lists, and other field options to make data entry easier and more efficient.
  • Create efficient layouts that include repeating fields, portals, and merge fields.
  • Identify the three types of data relationships, and use them to build a relational database system.
  • Create buttons on a layout to execute commands and scripts.
  • Create scripts to quickly recall and execute a simple or complex series of steps.
Hardware/software Requirements:

You will need:
  • Intel-compatible computer 486/33 or later.
  • At least 32 MB of RAM.
  • About 30 MB of hard disk space to install software, and an additional 5 MB for course data files.
  • A color monitor capable of at least 800 x 600 resolution.
  • A CD-ROM drive.
  • FileMaker Pro 5.5 software.
Delivery Method:

Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

Course duration:

1 Day(s)
