Microsoft NetMeeting 3.0: Internet Conferencing
Overview

Students will learn the basics of NetMeeting, how to initiate, accept and participate in online meetings using different features of NetMeeting.

Prerequisites

Windows 95: Introduction, Windows 98: Introduction, or Windows NT 4.0: Introduction as well as Internet Explorer 4.0: Introduction or Netscape Navigator: Introduction or equivalent knowledge.

Target Student

Students enrolling in this course should understand the Internet and how it works and be familiar with the concept of computer networks.

Performance-Based Objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Become familiar with how NetMeeting works and how it is installed.
  • Understand the concepts of Internet telephony and video conferencing and how they are used in NetMeeting.
  • Use NetMeeting Chat and the Whiteboard to communicate with other NetMeeting users.
  • Share applications and transfer files in NetMeeting.

Hardware/software Requirements

  • For Windows 98 and Windows 95, a Pentium 90 processor with 16 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM). (A Pentium 133 with 16 MB of RAM or better is recommended.)
  • For Windows NT systems, a Pentium 90 processor with 24 MB of RAM is necessary. (A Pentium 133 with 24 MB of RAM is recommended.)
  • 5 MB of free hard-disk space. (An additional 10 MB of free space is needed only during the installation to accommodate setup files.)
  • A floppy-disk drive.
  • A two-button mouse of compatible tracking device (or IntelliMouse).
  • A VGA or higher display adapter (the VGA display adapter is not supported.)
  • An Internet connection.
  • A sound card with microphone and speakers.
  • A PC video camera wit the necessary drivers.
