Overview
Students will learn how to simplify the daily tasks of running a small business.
Prerequisites
Excel 2000: Worksheets, Outlook 2000: Level 1, Word 2000: Level 1, Windows 98: Introduction, or equivalent knowledge.
Target Student
Students enrolling in this course should understand the basics of using the applications that are mentioned in the prerequisites above.
Performance-Based Objectives
Lesson objectives help students become
comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate
learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students
will be able to:
- Create a customer database and protect,
manage, and analyze the data within it.
- Use the resources that are available in
Business Planner, and complete a section of the Business
Plan Wizard.
- Use the Direct Mail Manager Wizard to
create a direct mailing.
- Create a financial database that you can
use to present and analyze your company's financial data.

Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

Hardware/software Requirements
- A Pentium 90 or faster processor with 16
MB of RAM. (For Windows NT 4.0, 32 MB of RAM.) For each
additional application, add 4 MB of RAM (8 MB for
Outlook).
- Approximately 182 MB of free hard-disk
space for Small Business Tools and Publisher. (For Word,
Excel, and Outlook, you will need an additional 440 MB.
For Microsoft Money 2000 Business & Personal, you
will need 70 MB.)
- Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a
networked CD-ROM drive for installation purposes.
- A floppy-disk drive.
- A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or
compatible pointing device.
- VGA or higher resolution monitor; Super
VGA recommended.
- An installed printer driver. (Printers are
not required; however, each PC must have an installed
printer driver.)
- An Internet connection with access to the
World Wide Web. The connection is necessary to complete
some tasks and Web Tips throughout the book. FYI:
Internet access may require payment of a separate fee to
a service provider.
- Microsoft Windows 95 (or later) operating
system, Microsoft Windows NT Workstation operating system
version 4.0 Service Pack 3 (or later). If you are running
Windows NT, make sure that you have at least 4 MB of free
registry space.
- A default installation of Microsoft 2000
Small Business Tools.
- A custom installation of Microsoft Office
2000.
- A default installation of Microsoft Money
2000 Business & Personal.
