Advanced Administration of WebSphere Application Server v5
WebSphere Training Overview

This training course is meant for medium to large scale companies maintaining a complex WebSphere based web site. The course covers advanced topics in the area of Work Load Management (WLM), name service, security, script based automation and transaction management.

After taking this course, students will be able to design a WebSphere based system that is more secure, easier to manage and performs better.

WebSphere Training Audience

The class is meant for the WebSphere adminsitrators who are currently maintaining a multi-machine environment running several applications. This course is highly recommended before starting to make any major enhancements to the current infrstructure with the intention to improve its capacity or security.

WebSphere Training Prerequisites

Students should have a good understanding of the basic administration aspects of WebSphere Application Server v5.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  • Run a J2EE application in multiple machines and enable fault tolerence.
  • Understand how the name server works and configure a EJB client to perform JNDI lookup.
  • Enable LDAP based security.
  • Enable single sign on with Domino.
  • Configure EJB security.
  • Configure Java security.
  • Install and use the WebSphere client runtime.
  • Configure the firewall to allow EJB client connections.
  • Understand the JACL grammar.
  • Automate common tasks using JACL scripting.
  • Configure JMS and Message Driven Bean (MDB).
  • Tune MDB performance.
  • Understand distributed transaction and the role WebSphere plays in it.
  • Understand isolation level.
  • Configure distributed transaction for DB2, Oracle and WebSphere MQ.
  • Understand how classloaders work in WebSphere.
  • Configure the class loading policy.
