This course is designed for instructor-led, group paced classroom-delivery, providing students with structured hands-on activities.
Target Student;
Anyone needing the fundamental skills necessary to create, edit, and publish pages that include text and pictures to an intranet or the World Wide Web.
Certification:
FrontPage 2002: Level 1 is one of a series of courseware titles that addresses Microsoft Office Specialist (Office Specialist) skill sets. The Office Specialist program is for individuals who use Microsoft's business desktop software and who seek recognition for their expertise with specific Microsoft products. Certification candidates must pass one or more product proficiency exams in order to earn Office Specialist certification.
Hardware / Software Requirements
You need
- A PC with a 75 MHz Pentium or higher processor with 24 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM). (A Pentium 90 with 32 MB of RAM or better is recommended.)
- 500 MB of free hard-drive space. (Windows NT only: At least 4 MB of available space in the Registry.)
- Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive for installation purposes.
- A 3.5"-disk drive.
- A two-button mouse, trackball, or equivalent pointing device.
- A VGA or higher display adapter (the EGA display adapter is not supported).
- An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, each PC must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
- Microsoft Windows 95 or later, or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or later installed.
- Microsoft Personal Web Server—install before you install the Microsoft Office 2000 Premium suite for the best results. Note: This course will not run correctly without the Personal Web Server software, which can be downloaded free from the Microsoft Web site. (See the Personal Web Server installation section below.)
- A full installation of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
- An Internet connection with access to the World Wide Web. The connection is necessary to complete some tasks and Web Tips throughout the book. (Note: Internet access may require payment of a separate fee to a service provider.)
- This course was developed using the Windows 98 platform; however, the manufacturer’s documentation states that FrontPage 2000 can also run on Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or higher installed, though some of the screen displays might be slightly different.
- Additionally, we used Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 in conjunction with the Microsoft Personal Web Server with FrontPage Extensions enabled. Tasks that use Office Web components, cascading style sheets, ActiveX controls, or VBscript may not produce the desired results if you use earlier versions of Internet Explorer, other browsers, or servers.
Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply Web site design considerations when creating a Web site with a wizard. Students will also be able to add and modify structural elements in an existing web.
- Apply Web page design concepts to create and modify Web pages by using frames.
- Build a web-based form to collect and store user data in a file and database; use Access databases with FrontPage.
- Modify and position pictures and text, as well as add sound and web components (such as rotating banner ads, hit counters, search forms, marquee text, and ActiveX controls) to their Web pages.
- Use reports, tasks, and security options to manage and collaborate on Web site creation.
- Animate text and Web pages with Dynamic HTML; format text with styles, style sheets, and themes.
