This course will give you an overview of the major features of SharePoint Foundation and Server 2010. You will become familiar with the traditional strengths of SharePoint: collaboration, content management, and search. Then you will understand how these are improved in 2010 before moving on to the major new features and capabilities of SharePoint 2010: Office 2010 services, Business Connectivity Services, extensive features for business intelligence, and the new and improved development and management tools.

A basic understanding of .NET and ASP.NET, and experience with SharePoint 2003 or 2007 are all helpful, but not required. No particular programming experience is required, but the course is taught from a developer's perspective.

Your Instructor

Doug Ware has been developing with, and helping others understand, Microsoft tools since picking up Visual Basic 3.0 in 1994. He spent most of the 1990’s developing applications with Microsoft Office and was an MVP for Microsoft Access from 1998 to 2000. He is the leader of the Atlanta .NET User Group, one of the largest user groups in the Southeast U.S., and is a frequent speaker at code camps and other events. In addition to teaching and writing about SharePoint, Doug stays active as a consultant and has helped numerous organizations implement and customize SharePoint as owner and founder of eLumenotion. Doug is also the creator of the popular eLumenotion SharePoint Skinner tool for creation of SharePoint themes.
