Mainframe Training Objectives

The student should be able extend the basic assembler knowledge to acquire storage and manage references to storage using registers. New instructions and usage will be introduced to provide a means for accessing data in tables and arrays using indexing and masking mechanisms, From these basic skills the student will learn to split code between two programs and manage invoking external subroutines. All these topics will include basic dumps and debugging techniques.

Mainframe Training Topics
  • Acquiring and referencing storage
  • Using Instructions with Indexes and Masks (tables and array usage)
  • Instructions
  • Calling external programs
  • Basic dump reading and debugging
Mainframe Training Audience

This class is intended for experienced programmers who have a good understanding of basic z/OS architecture

Mainframe Training Prerequisites

Students should have taken the Assembler Language Introduction course and have experience with TSO/ISPF and JCL.
