Students will learn the basics of the After Effects 4.1 application package

Adobe Training Prerequisites

Familiarity with personal computers and a working knowledge .

Target Student

Students enrolling in this course should be interested in exploring 2D animation and visual effects. After Effects animations and special effects can be exported into film, video, multimedia, and the Web.

Hardware/Software Requirements

Windows:

  • A Pentium or faster processor (Pentium II or III recommended)
  • Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 (later versions recommended)
  • At least 32 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM) (64+ recommended)
  • At least 80 MB of free-hard space to install After Effects, additional hard disk space will be needed to work with large files (500+ recommended).
  • A mouse or compatible tracking device
  • A video capture card
  • A 16 bit color display adapter (24+ recommended)
  • A sound card
  • A CD-ROM drive (double-speed or faster recommended)
  • Apple Quick Time 3.0 (or later)
Performance-Based Objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Define and identify some fundamental video and special effects concepts and terminology
  • Identify and use components of the After Effects 4.1 application window and tool palettes
  • Use After Effects 4.1 Help to search for help on specific topics
  • Create an After Effects project base on still images
  • Create an After Effects project based on live action video images
