Macintose Course Overview
Macromedia FreeHand is an extremely powerful and sophisticated graphics program, capable of creating complex and attractive illustrations and text effects. In this course you will learn many of the basic skills that will allow you to take advantage of FreeHand's powerful tools.
Prerequisites:
We designed FreeHand MX: Level 1 for the student who has little or no experience using FreeHand MX, and who needs to learn the basic skills that are necessary to begin using FreeHand effectively and efficiently.
Before taking this course, you should have a basic understanding of your computer's operating system. For example, you should know how to launch an application, create and save files, and copy files from CDs or other media.

Hardware/Software Requirements:
You will need:
- PowerPC G3 or higher processor.
- Mac OS software version 9.1 or higher, or OS X 10.1 or higher.
- At least 64 MB of available RAM (128 MB RAM recommended).
- At least 70 MB of available hard disk space required for installation, and an additional 5 MB for the course data.
- A monitor capable of displaying 16-bit color (thousands of colors) at a resolution of at least 1024 x 768.
- A CD-ROM drive.
- Adobe Type Manager Version 4 or later with Type 1 fonts (OS 9.x).
- QuickTime 6 (OS 9.x)
- Macromedia FreeHand MX.
Performance-Based Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Use the Pencil tool and Pen tool to create complex paths.
- Create and modify basic shapes.
- Apply powerful path editing techniques.
- Apply solid colors, gradients, and effects such as drop shadows to objects.
- Add and format text.
- Integrate scanned images with illustrations.
- Trace scanned images to convert them to vector objects.
- Use layers to manage complex illustrations.
